Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the deployment of an army battalion into Kaiama local government area of Kwara state where jihadists killed more than 160 villagers.
The operations dubbed “Operation Savannah Shield” is expected to serve as a “checkmate the barbaric terrorists and protect defenceless communities.”
A statement released by Special Advisor of the President, Bayo Onanuga said the President has condemned the attack, expressing rage that the attackers killed community members who rejected their “obnoxious attempt at indoctrination.”
“He condemned the cowardly and beastly attack and described the gunmen as heartless for choosing soft targets in their doomed campaign of terror,” the statement noted.
