Ghana plans to send English teachers to Colombia

Ghana is set to send English teachers to Colombia under a landmark agreement signed to deepen cultural and linguistic collaboration between the two nations.

Ghana is seeking to further a partnership with Colombia that will allow it send English teachers to the Spanish speaking South American country.

The two countries on Thursday, December 11, 2025, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen bilateral cooperation in areas of education, migration, agriculture, sports and youth development.

Other areas of focus for the bilateral cooperation include political consultations, air services, and technical cooperation.

The MoU was signed in Accra after high-level talks between the Vice-President, Professor Jane Opoku-Agyemang, and her Colombian counterpart, Francia Elena Márquez Mina.

“Ghana particularly values Colombia’s enduring support for Spanish teaching in our schools. I was asking that we expand that path to send teachers of English from Ghana to Colombia, too,” Ghana’s Vice President, Professor Opoku-Agyemang noted.

Colombia’s Vice President, Francia Elena Márquez Mina, while highlighting the shared history, cultural ties and opportunities for cooperation between Ghana and Colombia reaffirmed her country’s commitment towards strengthening relations with Ghana and the entire African continent.
