Deadly protest in Madagascar’s capital, Antananarivo have forced president Andry Rajoelina to dissolve his government.

This comes less than 48 hours after he sacked his energy minister to quell the anger of the country’s youth who had embarked on days of protest over electricity and water outages.

The youth are demanding a solution to the challenges in the country and a possible impeachment of the president.

On Monday, Andry Rajoelina sacked his entire government and called for applications for government positions.

“Maybe we haven’t lived up to your expectations or listened to your cries or your fears. Your demands have been heard, and I apologize if there are members of the government who have not done the work that the people expected,” the president said.

The country’s prime minister will remain until a new government is formed.
